What’s On
Le Corsaire
Get swept away by the pirate adventure.
Inspired by a widely read 1814 poem by Lord Byron, set in the Mediterranean Sea dominated by the Ottoman Empire, Le Corsaire is one of the most thrilling of all ballets. It is an exciting adventure and romance of a dashing pirate, Conrad, and his feisty girlfriend Medora. A treasure trove of colorful characters and virtuoso dancing, Le Corsaire is a showcase for all dancers of The Tokyo Ballet.
This epic ballet has seen many stagings since the 1850s. The Tokyo Ballet revives the exhilarating, sumptuous production of Anna-Marie Holmes with the lavish sets and costumes of the Teatro alla Scala. Get swept away by the escapades of captain Conrad and his crew!
Performances in commemoration of Principal dancer Arata Miyagawa’s receipt of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s 76th Art Encouragement Prize in Dance.
