What’s On
Onegin
The Tokyo Ballet revives the masterpiece for the first time in 14 years.
Cranko, a Joachim Lang's biopic about the brilliant dancer and choreographer John Cranko, received
public acclaim in Japan too when it was finally released in the country this spring.
In November 2026, The Tokyo Ballet revives Cranko’s unarguable masterpiece, Onegin, for the first time in 14 years. The narrative ballet based on the verse novel by Alexander Pushkin entered the Company’s repertoire in 2010 with Yukari Saito as Tatiana and Kazuo Kimura as Onegin and was revived in 2012. After retiring as dancers, Saito first as Artistic Director, now as Director, and Kimura as Ballet Coach, have led The Tokyo Ballet’s dancers and developed their artistry and virtuosity for more than 10 years. Meanwhile, the Company added another narrative masterpiece by Cranko, Romeo and Juliet, into its repertoire in 2022, receiving public and critical acclaim, and revived it in 2024.
After a long absence, Onegin will return to stage with the ever-evolving dancers of The Tokyo Ballet.
Don’t miss out.
